What is Grace Hopper and Grace Blackwell?
Grace Hopper (GH200) and Grace Blackwell (GB200) are NVIDIA superchips that pair a Grace Arm CPU with Hopper or Blackwell GPUs over NVLink-C2C, a coherent link much faster than PCIe.
Why it matters when renting a GPU
The fast CPU-GPU link lets models use CPU memory as an extension of GPU memory with less penalty, useful for very large models and recommenders.
Software must support the Arm (aarch64) host; check container images before launching.
Worked example
The GH200 lists 96 GB of HBM3 at 4,000 GB/s and NVLink-C2C (900 GB/s) to the CPU. The GB200 NVL lists 186 GB of HBM3e at 8,000 GB/s.
Frequently asked questions
- Do superchips run x86 software?
- No. The Grace CPU is Arm-based, so you need aarch64 builds of your software and containers.
